Economic relations between Yemen and the
Federal Republic of Germany are determined by the continous and intensive
economic cooperation (development aid). Within the more than 30 years
since the establishing of diplomatic relations in 1969, Germany has
become the biggest bilateral donor of Yemen. Yemen is one out of four
focus countries for German development cooperation.
In contrast to this, commercial relations are exposed to great fluctuation.
The quantities of Yemeni exports vary strongly from year to year,
whereas German exports to Yemen are slowly but steadily on the rise.
German companies are represented in Yemen by local agents. For certain
projects German employees are seconded to in Yemen by local agents,
and for other projects German employees are seconded to Yemen.
